Mental Health

The Social Services Agency contracts with Alameda County Behavioral Health Care Services (BHCS) to provide mental health services to eligible individuals in The Agency's programs. Individuals that are Cal Works recipients, or are applying for Cal WORKS can be referred to one of 11 community-based organizations that Social Services and Behavioral Health are contracting with. These organizations are located throughout Alameda County, and have the capacity to serve customers who speak: Spanish, Farsi, Cantonese, Cambodian, and Vietnamese. A referral can be requested by calling any one of the following numbers:

The following are mental health services that are available to CalWORKs clients:

  • Support groups
  • Stress reduction and parenting classes
  • Individual counseling
  • Family counseling

Non-Cal WORKS clients can receive referrals to any of the services listed above by calling ACCESS at 1-800-491-9099. They also contract with practitioners throughout Alameda County, some of who speak Spanish, Farsi, Cantonese, Cambodian and Vietnamese.
