Families with Children
Generally, public assistance recipients, pregnant women and children under 21 years of age are eligible for Medi-Cal benefits. All residents of California may qualify for Medi-Cal.

Medical Care for Elders & Disabled Adults
The specialized Medi-Cal programs processed at the Department of Adult and Aging Services of Alameda County Social Services. Individuals who are aged, blind or disabled may be eligible for these benefits. The Medi-Cal programs described below are specialized programs that provide only the benefit of paying all or part of the Medicare premiums, co-payments, and deductibles for certain low income individuals, depending on program eligibility.

Mental Health
The Social Services Agency contracts with Alameda County Behavioral Health Care Services (BHCS) to provide mental health services to eligible individuals in The Agency's programs. Individuals can call BHCS' toll-free ACCESS line to receive information and referrals for mental health services. ACCESS has staff who speak languages other than English.

Alcohol & Drug Addiction

Food Stamps
The Food Stamp Program provides monthly nutrition assistance for low-income people to purchase nutritional food.
