Transportation Assistance
Are you a CalWORKs client who is in school, working or in a training program? Have you received CalWORKs in the last year? If so, you may be eligible for transportation services. CalWORKs can pay for bus passes and BART fare. In some cases, CalWORKs pays you if you use a car.
Eligibility
People whom now get CalWORKs and people who have received aid within the last year may be eligible for transportation services.If you have a car, you can get the cash value of a bus pass, which is currently $49.00 a month. If your one-way trip to work or school takes more than one hour by bus or BART, then you may be eligible to be paid a set amount per each mile that you drive.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. Can I get transportation payments after I have stopped getting a CalWORKs check because I am working?
Yes. If you need money to get to and from work, you may be eligible for transportation payments for up to 12 months from the date of discontinuance from cash aid.
2. What if my CalWORKs was discontinued for another reason, such as not sending in my CW-7 monthly report?
It doesn't matter why your cash aid ended. If you are now working you may qualify for help.
3. What if I have a car?

4. Can I get bus fare for my children?
Yes. If your children need bus fare to get to and from their childcare, they may also qualify.
