Assistant Agency Director :. Stewart Smith

Stewart Smith is the Assistant Agency Director in the Department of Adult and Aging Services. Stewart has served SSA well and has a very strong commitment to service excellence.

Stewart received a BA Degree in Psychology in 1970 from Lafayette College in Pennsylvania. He later acquired a Masters Degree in Education in 1977 and a Masters Degree in Counseling in 1985; licensed in 1988. During his tenure here at SSA, he attended UC Berkeley, School of Social Welfare (BASSC) where he completed course work in the Executive Development Program in 1998.

Stewart began his career at SSA as a Child Welfare Worker II in October 1988. He was then promoted to Child Welfare Supervisor in 1989. He then became the Section Supervisor in November 1995. In February 1998, Stewart was promoted to Program Manager. He then became the Director of Welfare Fraud Prevention in January 2004.
